Project Overview

Supporting the GNOME Foundation’s fundraising efforts through structural guidance and mentorship — helping shape how the organization approaches sustainable funding.

My Role

• Structural guidance — advising on fundraising structure and approach
• Mentorship — mentoring those driving the fundraising work
• Board perspective — helping coordinate which areas need effective fundraising, from the board’s vantage point

Why the Board Run

A key motivation for running for the board was gaining financial oversight — the fundraising work had no direct access to the foundation’s finances, making it hard to ground fundraising strategy in real numbers. Board service provides that oversight and the ability to connect fundraising to the organization’s actual financial picture.
