GNOME Ambassador Program
Building the GNOME Ambassador Program to empower local community leaders worldwide to represent and grow the GNOME ecosystem
Overview
Building the GNOME Ambassador Program — a community initiative to empower local ambassadors worldwide to represent GNOME in their regions, organize local events, and grow the ecosystem through personal connections.
Program Goals
- Local representation — enabling GNOME advocates to represent the project in their own communities and languages
- Community growth — building regional communities that welcome new contributors and users
- Outreach — supporting ambassadors in organizing local events, meetups, and educational activities
- Onboarding — helping newcomers find their way into the GNOME community through local, trusted connections
- Global reach — extending GNOME’s presence beyond the usual conference circuit into regional communities
My Role
Leading the design and rollout of the program: defining the ambassador role, building the application and onboarding process, establishing expectations and support structures, and coordinating with the GNOME Engagement Team.
Impact
- Creating a sustainable, community-driven model for GNOME outreach worldwide
